Biography

Alexander Matern is a postdoctoral researcher at the Secure Mobile Networking Lab. His research focuses on the security and privacy of wireless protocols on Apple platforms and location-based systems. His research strongly revolves around tracking devices, their misuse and how to protect victims of stalking. He earned his bachelor's degree in general computer science in 2017 and his master's degree in IT security in 2019, both from the Technical University of Darmstadt. He received his Ph.D. from the Technical University of Darmstadt in 2025. He has received two Best Demo awards (WiSec 20 and 21) and one Best Paper award (WiSec 22).
