Coordinated Millimeter-Wave Beam-Steering for Dense Network Deployments

Beam-steering is the backbone of millimeter-wave (mm-wave) networks and key to achieve data-rates of multiple gigabit per second. Nodes must steer their antennas so that they maximize the signal gain towards the intended communication partner. In large networks with dense deployments, nodes should also encounter for interference with concurrent communication of other nodes to not impair other communication links. 


In this thesis, you investigate this issue and develop effective and efficient strategies to maximize the overall network performance with centralized and distributed coordinated sector selection. Implementation and evaluation in this thesis, should be performed by means of our mm-wave testbed platform with off-the-shelf IEEE 802.11ad devices. Experience with Linux, wireless network configuration, and scripting languages is recommended.
