Motivation

In previous research, we already demonstrated how to support scalable video streaming applications by an adjustable physical layer. To achieve this, we connected WARP software-defined radios to Android smartphones and created the APP and PHY in Harmony framework. As scalable video codec we used our self made motion JPEG like scalable video codec whose coding efficiency is very low.

In this thesis, you will develop a video streaming system for Android smartphones based on H.264 or H.265 in combination with the NexMon framework that allows to modify MAC layer parameters before transmitting WiFi frames. Then you will evaluate your implementation to existing solutions including the APP and PHY in Harmony demonstration.
