Welcome to our seminar courses. We are offering the Seminar on Networking, Security, Mobility, and Wireless Communications (20-00-0582-se) and the Advanced Seminar on Networking, Security, Mobility, and Wireless Communications (20-00-0549-se) every semester.

On this page you find basic information on these courses. Detailed informations as timetable, templates, registration process, presentation slides are handled over Moodle. You can access the course website here. The enrollment key will be provided during the kick-off meeting.

Thursday, October 18, 2018, 17:10 in S2|02 C120.

Contents of the Course

The Seminar and Advanced Seminar on Networking, Security, Mobility, and Wireless Communications cover current research that is considered highly relevant for the future development of the given topic areas. Goal of the seminar is to explore the aforementioned research area by studying, critically analyzing and discussing, summarizing, and presenting selected first-rate research articles. Deliverables are a short presentation, a final presentation, and a seminar paper.

The courses cover the following contents:

  • Indepentent exploration of a topic in the area of networking, security, mobility, and wireless communications (typically in english)
  • Own, enhanced literature study
  • Interpretation and classification of the literature study
  • Preparation of an introductory talk as well as a final talk including presentation slides
  • Presentation of both talks for a heterogenous audience (experts/non-experts)
  • Technical discussion after the talks
  • Feedback to the speakers and the talks (including presentation skills) and technical content
  • Understanding the process of scientific work as well as of scientific publications

Available Topics

The available topics are derived from current research in the SEEMOO group and change every semester. During the kick-off meeting, we present all topics with time for discussion. An overview of topics, we offer in summer term 2018 is available  undefinedhere. Please note that the offered topics are subject to change until the official kick-off. If you have any questions or concerns about any topic, please contact the respective supervisor.


Committing for a specific topic can be done directly after the presentation of topics in the kick-off meeting or the day after. Please keep in mind that a valid registration in TUCaN and attendance in the kick-off is mandatory to participate in the course. If you cannot join the kick-off (e.g. due to conflicts with other courses) please inform us in advance.

We will assign topics to students shortly after the kick-off according to your preferences. However, if many students are interested in a particular topic, we cannot guarantee to be able to assign you as desired. Please note, that applying for topics is not possible later than Sunday April 15, 23:00!

Prerequisites for Attending

To join our seminar courses, you should have successfully participated in at least one advanced SEEMOO lecture (MobNet, NetSec, SeMoSy, CriCom, PhySec) before.
